NARSAD
 
The National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and
Depression (NARSAD) represents the unified commitment for
the support of research by the members of the country's
largest mental health organizations: The National Alliance
for the Mentally Ill (NAMI), The National Mental Health
Association (NMHA) and The National Depressive and Manic
Depressive Association (NDMDA), our founders; and by our
thousands of supporters.  In eight years, NARSAD has awarded
over $35 million to fund 657 grants to 397 scientists in 86
universities and medical research institutions.
 
NARSAD aims to raise $10 million annually so that research
can and will provide better treatments of and eventually
cures for mental illness.
 
NARSAD is on the cutting edge of what is happening with the
biochemical/neurobiological model of understanding People
Who.
